One person was in critical condition and four others displaced following a two-alarm apartment house blaze on Rainier Road in Mattapan last night, according to the Boston Fire Department.

The fire was reported knocked down approximately one hour after it started shortly before 9:45 p.m. on the first floor of a 2 1/2-story dwelling.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. Officials estimated it caused $50,000 in property damage.
